Books I Read – 2019

Wolfpack, Abby Wambach is a 2 time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA world cup champion, representing USA, delivers her empowering rally cry to women by sharing her experiences of failures and triumphs on the field. An inspiring book that highlights personal and professional thoughts to women to unleash individual strengths, build teams and emerge victorious. A good read with a touch of leadership development for women.

5 dysfunction of a team, Patrick Lencioni, is a business management book, that narrates a business fable to show the issues that can arise in a team, in a very elaborate world. Lencioni’s business thoughts have been studied widely and applied by management firms across the world in various fields like sports, marketing, operations, logistics, engineering and so on.

Its not luck, Eliyahu Goldratt, is another business novel. Last year I got to read The Goal, and this is a prequel to the same story. While Goal deals with pragmatic approach on setting up a target, Its not Luck deals with thought processes, techniques that continuously can produce quick turn around in day to day problems that can quite become unseemingly impossible to handle. Another good read and a business management book widely renowned in the market.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera, is a novel about love in a politically unstable nation of then Czechoslovakia. The novel exposition 5 characters from Czech society, their thoughts about the future, philosophies of life, political and ideological challenges and personal beliefs. A book with deep philosophy narrated in a beautiful way.
